I love observing the fox squirrels in my backyard. I always wonder why some mother squirrels suddenly increase the size of their litters with more kits. Recently I saw seven kits with a mother squirrel who used to have two kits. I found that mother squirrels adopt orphaned kits from their colonies. Squirrels are remarkable and caring creatures. It is so much fun to observe with your children.
